Decoding QR Codes
QR codes seem to be everywhere now. I see them on TV ads, in magazines, and I even have one on my business card. Organizations of every kind use them in marketing, but they actually originated in automotive manufacturing in the 1990s. What’s so appealing about QR codes, and should you jump on the bandwagon and use one for your business, too?
QR is short for Quick Response, and just like the rest of our world, QR codes are designed for instantaneous convenience. In a snap (literally) you can jump to a website or page that directs you to relevant content without a bunch of website perusing.
Why should you include QR codes in your marketing toolbox? For the reasons I mentioned above, QR codes are one of the most popular ways to direct mobile traffic. Cutting out the time that it takes someone to type in your website URL quickens the amount of time it takes to get to your website or special offer. And the more quickly they land on your website, the more quickly they begin to explore and decide on your products and/or services.
Another great reason to incorporate QR codes: QR codes can be trackable, and trackability is key to calculating ROI. You can’t measure what you don’t track! Incorporating QR codes into your strategy can provide you with insights on how well a particular campaign works. When you have this kind of performance data, you can make informed decisions on whether or not something was worth the investment.
